The Best Apartment Holidays in Puerto Del Carmen

Add Comment

Puerto del Carmen’s appeal as a holiday resort is firmly established as a result of its wonderful climate. The town takes full advantage of its location on the eastern coast of Lanzarote, where it is also sheltered by several volcanoes from the prevailing winds.

As a result, the numerous sandy beaches along its seven kilometre seafront offer ideal conditions for sunbathing, snorkeling and swimming. Whilst the recent improvements to the promenade make it a much more enjoyable place for pedestrians.

Over the years, the resort has grown from a tiny fishing village to a small town, with a particular emphasis on self-catering accommodation. A wide number of apartments in Lanzarote are based in Puerto del Carmen, with everything from very basic facilities to luxury penthouse properties available to rent. For travellers there are a number of independent websites featuring a whole host of Lanzarote accommodation to pick from.

All of the apartment complexes fit a similar blueprint of low rise buildings, with lush tropical planting surrounding them. This style of development helps to give the town its unspoiled and relaxed atmosphere, making it the perfect backdrop for holidays. Alongside apartments there is also a great range of holiday villas in Lanzarote to be found in Puerto del Carmen. Obviously the villas tend to be more spacious and better equipped than the apartments, with many extras included as a matter of course.

As a holiday resort, Puerto del Carmen has numerous attractions and activities to offer visitors, several of which are sea-based, such as sport fishing trips. On dry land visitors can play a round of golf at the recently opened golf course, based on the outskirts of town or see one of the animal shows at the local theme park.

Aside from the wide choice of Lanzarote accommodation, Puerto del Carmen is well provided with restaurants, with nearly every national cuisine represented, from Italian to Japanese. A good number of these establishments offer local specialties, with particular emphasis on seafood, especially in the old harbour area.

The central area of the town is the place to head for nightlife, with a good selection of bars and clubs, many of which do not open until the early hours of the morning. This is especially true of the music venues, which younger visitors may want to sample.
