Discover Thailand

Thailand is increasingly popular as a travel destination ? and it is not hard to understand why. The welcoming tropical climate ? and warm and welcoming people ? make Thailand an excellent choice for the European traveller wanting to head slightly off the beaten track.

Have a look online at operators such as Dialaflight – who connect to all of the major transport hubs across the country ? and you”ll see that Thailand is now more accessible than ever. From the bohemian centre of Chaing Mai, to the modern urban chaos of Bangkok, there are a good selection of flights to choose from.

The cool season is definitely the time to visit Thailand, and runs from November right up to the end of February, presenting the opportunity for the perfect antidote to the Northern European winter.

The ”cool season” is of course relative to the hot season, as temperatures regularly reach the late 20”s and early thirties Celsius ? not that cool if you are from Northern Europe. Perhaps the perfect temperature rangein which to explore Thailand, it is perhaps not surprising that the cool season is the peak tourist season in Thailand.

The influence of the cultures of China, India, Cambodia as well as the rest of Southeast Asia evident in everyday Thai culture. This melting pot is reflected in the language, religion and cuisine of the country.

Thailand is the home of Theravada Buddihism, which has developed over the centuries to incorporate elements of other religions such as Hinduism thanks to the influence of India, and is the national religion of Thailand. It is perhaps this Infian influence that also accounts for the large numbers of Muslims in the far south of Thailand, creating a cultural depth that makes a proper tour of the country such a recommended endeavour.

One of my favourite consequences of this cultural fusion are the distinctive flavours of Thai cooking; a word of caution for the delicate palate however ? Thai food can be seriously hot! Thai cuisine can be described as the culinary marriage of China and India, where the heat of Indian spices meet the traditional cooking techniques of the Chinese.

From the pristine white sands on the island of Koh Samui, to the slightly seedy mayhem of Bangkok, Thailand has plenty to offer both the traveller and the relaxed holiday goer. Plan well in advance to
1000
so that you can take full advantage of the cheap flights offered by the likes of Dialaflight, to ensure that you have enough hard earned cash left to fully enjoy the your visit to the ”Golden Land” of Thailand.
