The Third Largest Island of Sporades Islands

Alonissos Is a Greek island in the Aegean sea, its the third biggest island of the Sporades Islands and the northen island also.  Alonissos island is located close to Skopelos.  Alonissos Island is famous due to its outstanding beauty with the most impressing abysses in the Aegean Sea and its enchanting view. 
Alonissos is also the name of a village on the island and a bay at the southern end of the island.  Many consider that the island of Alonissos has the cleanest waters of the Greece Aegean Sea. 

The town of Alonissos is found on the southern part of the island.  Alonissos agriculture is very develop specifically farming and vineyards, with the main products being grapes and olives.  Fishing is a well-liked profession on the island it’s a relaxed island, the majority of its villages are modest and normal with narrow streets and picturesque buildings and homes.  Turists can enjoy a tranquil and calm atmosphere.

The Battle of Rorke's Drift

Rorke’s Drift is situated 46 km southeast of Dundee and is the site of one of the most famous battles of the Anglo-Zulu war of 1879. The countryside around Rorke’s Drift is unspoilt and tranquil. Irishman James Rorke had originally set up a trading station about 1 mile from the drift (crossing point) of the Buffalo River and was known to the Zulus as KwaJimu (Jim’s place). Later, a mission station was established by the Reverend Otto Witt of the Swedish Missionary Society. He built a small church, mission house and cattle kraal at the foot of a rocky mountain which he named Oskarberg.

The mission station had been ‘requisitioned’ by Lord Chelmsford. The house was used as a hospital and the chapel was used as a storehouse. During the battle it was used as a surgery. The defence of the mission station of Rorke’s Drift immediately followed the British Army’s defeat at the Battle of Isandlwana earlier that morning on 22nd January 1879. The overwhelming Zulu attack on Rorke’s Drift came very close to defeating the tiny garrison, and the British success is held as one of history’s finest defences. The defence of Rorke’s Drift saw 11 Victoria Crosses awarded which is more than in any other single military action in history.

Saints Come From 21 Down to Beat Dolphins

With an offense that can strike as quickly as the New Orleans Saints’, they’re never out of a game. The Miami Dolphins found that out the hard way on Sunday as the Saints came roaring back from a 21 point deficit to win going away 46-34. Drew Brees threw for 298 yards and a touchdowns, though gave up three interceptions as New Orleans remained undefeated at 6-0 despite trailing in a game for the first time this season.

Adding insult to injury for NFL betting enthusiasts who backed Miami as +6 home underdogs, the Saints continued their rampage against the pointspread with a late game interception return for a touchdown to cover. New Orleans is 6-0 against the number this season, while Miami dropped to 2-4 against the spread.

Where to Take Your Family on Vacation

Picking out a great vacation for the family is not as easy as it sounds. There can be big differences in what everybody likes or wants to do. Now, taking out the fact that parents would like to do something relaxing and maybe even romantic, there are still things that are family friendly. Also, if anybody tries to talk you into taking a family vacation in Las Vegas, get as far away from them as possible. Do it quickly, nobody needs friends like that. That town is not appropriate for children and only single people should be allowed in the city limits.

So what does that leave, if you can’t go somewhere relaxing, romantic or to Las Vegas, where do you take the family? Well, there are plenty of places. Let’s assume that going overseas is not an option, for simplicity’s sake. That leaves you with fifty great states, cruises and even Canada, which contrary to popular belief, does have things to do for fun.
